Rotary Exchange Students Ski Killington

posted Feb 11, 2011, 6:38 AM by jon curtis
Every year for the past 18 years the Killington Pico Rotary club has hosted exchange students living in Southern Vermont and New Hampshire for a 4 day weekend of skiing and fun.  These students come from all over the world to live and attend high school for a year in the US. They are sponsored by a Rotary Club in their home country and are typically hosted for the year by 3 families who are selected by their local "host" Rotary Club here in the US  This year we had students from Norway, Ecuador, Germany, Japan,... the list was long.  The students were taken into our homes for the 4 nights of their stay.

The community comes together to show these students a good time.  Killington Ski Area contributes lifts, lessons, and equipment.  The Rutland City Rotary Club puts on a night of dancing at South Station in Rutland.  Killington Pico Rotary throws a pool/pizza party at the Grand Hotel.  Exchange students are a grass roots Rotary effort aimed at fostering world peace through understanding of other cultures.  At Killington Pico Rotary we're proud to do our part to show a bit of the fun and hospitality present in the fabric of American culture to these young people from around the world.
